Black Adam Movie 2022

Black Adam (Teth/Theo-Adam) is a fictional supervillain/antihero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.  Auto binder and C.C.  Created by Beck, the character is one of the nemesis of the superhero, Captain Marvel and the Marvel family.  Black Adam first appeared as a one-time villain for Fawcett Comics' first issue of The Marvel Family Comic Book (December 1945).  However, Black Adam was revived as a recurring character when DC Comics first licensed and then acquired the Fawcett characters and began publishing family stories under the title Shazam (formerly Captain Marvel)!  In 1970.

As originally depicted, Black Adam was a corrupted, ancient Egyptian predecessor of Captain Marvel, who fought his way to modern times to challenge the hero and his Marvel Family associates.[3] Since the turn of the 21st century, however, Black Adam has been redefined by DC Comics writers Jerry Ordway, Geoff Johns, and David S. Goyer as a corrupted antihero attempting to clear his name and reputation. Featured roles in such comic book series as Justice Society of America (JSA), Villains United, Infinite Crisis, and 52 have elevated the character's prominence in the DC Universe. In 2009, Black Adam was ranked as IGN's 16th-greatest comic book villain of all time.[4]

The character made his cinematic debut in 2022's DC League of Super-Pets, voiced by Dwayne Johnson, who subsequently is starring as the character in the live-action Black Adam, releasing later the same year, and set in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU ).

When Teth-Adam/Theo Adam utters the magic word "Shazam", he transforms into Black Adam and is granted the following powers derived from the ancient Egyptian gods:

SHAZAM full form :- Shu Horus Amon Zehuti Aten Mehen ( stamina strength power wisdom speed courage )

Sfor the stamina of Shu :- Using Shu's virtually unlimited stamina, Black Adam can withstand and survive most types of extreme physical assaults. Additionally, he does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe and can survive unaided in space. His godly metabolism provides him with far greater than human potency in all physical activities. Sustained by the magical energies coursing through his body, Adam is immortal.

Hfor the swiftness of Horus :- By channeling Horus's supernatural speed, Black Adam can move at sub-light speeds in orbit. In outer space, Black Adam can fly at trans-light speeds, while on Earth he has been depicted running at a maximum Mach 500. He was able to give his speed to the Golden Age Flash, running at incredible speeds with him.

Afor the strength of Amon :- Black Adam has an extraordinary degree of super strength, being able to bend steel with ease, punch through walls, create powerful shockwaves with claps, and lift massive objects.  Black Adam's powers are generally depicted as being on par with Superman and Captain Marvel, although some writers have depicted his powers as possibly comparable to them.  On at least one occasion, he is a member of the Justice League, Justice Society of America, The Great Ten, Martian Manhunter (whose powers are depicted as close to Superman) and the Teen Titans.

Zfor the wisdom of Zehuti :- Black Adam has instant access to extensive scholarly knowledge, allowing him to know multiple languages.  The wisdom of the Jew gives him advice and counsel in time of need.

Afor the power of Aten :- Aten's power allows Black Adam to fly, fueling magical electricity that transforms Adam, further enhancing Adam's superhuman physical abilities, and providing magical resistance to a vast array of magical spells and attacks.  Adam can use the lightning bolt as a weapon by dodging it and letting it hit an opponent or target.  This allows him to travel to the Eternity Stone, allowing interdimensional and time travel.

Mfor the courage of Mehen :- This aspect is mainly mental and spiritual.  Mehen’s courage gives Black Adam superhuman amounts of inner strength, willpower, discipline, and determination from which to draw great fighting skills in times of despair and possibly.  He is constantly supported by a harmonious presence of goodwill and indomitable courage that never shrinks from a challenge or feels any debilitating amount of fear or despair, even in the face of the most formidable opponents.  His mind power makes him immune to telepathy and mind control.  In some narratives, Mehen’s bravery also gives him a measure of physical illness to harm.

Dwayne Johnson says ‘unpopular’ complaint he made to Warner Bros led to Black Adam

After joining the DC universe, Dwayne Johnson said he had to go pretty big with the flow.

Johnson has been cast as DC's character Black Adam, a villain who will compete head-to-head with Zachary Levi Shazam in an upcoming movie.

Shazam had a standalone movie, released in 201. It was originally supposed to feature Black Adam in the same movie - which Johnson didn't like.

When the first draft of the movie came to us, it was a combination of Black Adam and Shazam: two origin stories in one movie,” the actor told Vanity Fair.

Now that was the goal, so it wasn’t a complete surprise,” Johnson continued. “But when I read that, I just knew in my gut, we can’t make this movie like this. We would be doing Black Adam an incredible disservice

“It would’ve been fine for Shazam having two origin stories converge in one movie, but not good for Black Adam.”

Johnson took matters into his own hand and led the charge at Warner Bros in the hopes of splitting the films into two.

However, he said it was tough as everyone liked the original screenplay.

“I said, ‘I have to share my thoughts here. It’s very unpopular’ because everybody thought, ‘Hey, this script is great, let’s go make this movie.’ I said, ‘I really think that you should make Shazam!, make that movie on its own in the tone that you want. And I think we should separate this as well.’”

Ultimately, he succeeded in his efforts, and Black Adam will be released later this year alongside Shazam! sequel, Fury of the Gods.

Shazam: Who is Black Adam?

The Early Days

Black Adam first appeared in 1945 and was created by Otto Binder and the creator of all things Shazam C. C. Beck. In his first story, Adam was established as an ancient pharaoh and the first mortal to be granted the powers of Shazam. Although, with Adam, the acronym stands for something a little different, with a more Egyptian theme: Shu (stamina), Hershef (strength), Amon (power), Zehuti (wisdom), Anpu (speed), and Menthu (courage). Teth-Adam (which means Mighty Human) is corrupted by the Shazam powers, and after cutting a swath of destruction across Ancient Egypt, Adam is exiled into space by the Wizard.

Adam returns in the modern age to find that the Shazam powers had been gifted to Billy, Freddy, and Mary, and a true epic of the Golden Age follows as Black Adam is finally tricked into saying the Shazam magic word and reverts back to Teth-Adam. Sadly for ol’ Teth, he is now five thousand years old and instantly turns to dust. Yikes.

Oddly, for such an important villain, this was Black Adam’s only Golden Age appearance. I guess none of the Fawcett writers could think of a way to un-dust Adam so he was a true one hit wonder. When DC Comics revived Shazam in the 1970s, Black Adam returned thanks to Dr. Sivana’s Reincarnation Machine (why not) and became part of the DC Universe proper. He’d return again in the late 1980s as part of the short lived Shazam: A New Beginning era of the characters, but it wasn’t until 1994 that Black Adam would realize his true poential.

According to more current continuity? A Kahndaqi slave.

Under the oppression of Ibac I, a brutal barbarian, Teth-Adam was enslaved like the majority of his fellow Kahndaqi people. His family was killed by Ibac’s men, leaving him alone all except for his nephew, Aman. Escaping his slavers, Adam left to find Aman. Adam successfully found him but at the cost of a fatal wound. Blessed, they were both transported to the Rock of Eternity, the nexus of magic within the Prime Multiverse, where they were greeted by the Wizard.

The Wizard exclaims how he chose Aman to bear the Living Lightning, the power of gods, as his ‘champion’. Reluctant, Aman chooses to accept the Living Lightning on the condition that he save his uncle by sharing the power with him. This is how Adam becomes the legendary champion, Black Adam.

With his nephew Aman presumably killed by either Ibac I’s men or himself, Black Adam decided to kill off Ibac I, turning him to stone. He then declared himself the loyal ‘Lord’ and ‘Guardian’ of Kahndaq and protected it for millennia before being imprisoned by the Wizard for his traitorous actions against him.

After his timely death by his own hand, he would later be resurrected by Kahndaqi rebels through the divine blessings of the Egyptian pantheon. From there, he would return to take Kahndaq’s throne from a descendant of Ibac I.

Black Adam Power

The modern Black Adam first appears in Jerry Ordway’s The Power of Shazam which proves that Teth-Adam was one of the greatest warriors serving Pharaoh Ramses II, who attracts the attention of a magician who grants him powers.  Adam served as the protector of Egypt for centuries until he was corrupted by a demonic entity known as the Blaze.  Blaze is kind of like a combination of Marvel’s Hela and Marvel’s Mephisto.  The magician takes away Adam's powers after all "seduced by a demonic monster" and puts the Black Adam's powers in a scarf (as someone would).

The big takeaway here is that, aside from Ordway's Shazam being scary, the writer/artist has established Black Adam as a once noble soul.  Black Adam was Egypt's greatest champion (sorry, Hawkman), and Adam was a paragon of chivalry early in the DCEU until he was corrupted by Blaze.  Black Adam's story is almost biblical in scope as he rises as a champion and falls to a corrupt spirit who kills the family of a boy destined to be a hero.
